What is PerthALIVE?
PerthALIVE is an independent not-for-profit organisation that advocates for the development of vibrant, intergenerational housing precincts. Our ALIVE acronym stands for All ages Living in Vibrant environments. Since 2011 we have worked constructively and collaboratively with a variety of agencies in state government, local governments, private developers, and a not-for-profit aged care provider to advocate for Multi-Age Precincts. History, Purpose, and Vision
PerthALIVE began as a small group of Perth residents wondering where and how we’d live as we age. Our preference was to live in vibrant communities, surrounded by people of all ages, and within walking distance of amenities such as public transport, shopping, and medical facilities. We wanted easy access to a provider who could arrange home and personal services that might be used by people at different stages of life such as home cleaning, respite care, fitness activities, meals, child care/babysitting, and nursing care. Additionally, we are focussed on social sustainability, seeking dedicated accommodation for a community facility. Our advocacy grew from that aspiration.
